Prosthetics

Prosthetics is the profession of providing artificial limbs (prostheses) for people who have a limb loss or deficiency of an upper or lower extremity. A prosthesis may be needed to accommodate a birth deficiency, traumatic injury, or the complications of an illness such as cancer or diabetes. Technological advances made in this field allow the prosthetist to "engineer" a prosthesis that is most appropriate for the client's lifestyle and physical condition.
